Achievements

 Extra-curricular developments and successes:

  • Our school won the senior colleges perpetual shield in Gaelic Football in 2012-13 & again in 2013-14. We have successfullt defended the Sciath cuimhneachán Seán Uí Dhubhda having beaten Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí in the finals of 2013 and 2014. We won the Kerry senior colleges and U-16 1/2 'C' competitions this year as well as reaching the semi-final of the Munster U-15 1/2 competition.
  • Our Junior Ladies Football team lost the semi final of the Junior ‘A’ competition in 2013 which was an incredible achievement for such a small school.
  • We reached the final of the U-16 rugby blitz held in Tralee rugby club in 2013.
  • Michael Mullally represented Munster Youths in Recent inter-provincials.
  • Siobhán Goodwin was on the Kerry Minor team last year and Ashley Maunsell is currently on the Kerry senior ladies football panel.
  • Andrea Quirke and Ciara Butler have represented Kerry at under age level. 
  • Patrick O'Donoghue is currently on the Kerry u-17 panel
  • Our 3rd and 4th year boys’ soccer team won the mount hawk one day invitational competition in 2013 beating Tralee CBS in the final on penalties.
  • All of our teams are trained in an organised and professional manner by Aodán Mac Gearailt, Jonathan Lyne, Aoileann Nic Gearailt and Elizabeth O'Donoghue who are training our ladies football team this year. Outside coaches, past pupils and local GAA club players also help on a voluntary basis.
  • Current and past pupils have represented both Kerry and Munster at under age level in Gaelic Football and Rugby..
  • We place huge importance on health and well-being in our school for all students which is why we run a fitness club which involves running on a Tuesday (beginners and advanced) which is organised by Fiona Ní Bhrosnacháin . Staff members Melissa Ní Chíobháin and Sally Ann Leahy also offer support and assistance. A fitness club & circuit training is ran by Aodán Mac Gearailt.
  • Gemma Donovan coaches the school’s Spikeball team and in 2013 our mixed first year team won the Munster competition and finished second in Ireland in UCD. Gemma coaches our Spikeball teams after school on Wednesday.
  • The school has an equestrian team under the guidance of Mandy Sweeney (Parent) and Karen Blennerhassett.
  • We have enjoyed huge success in art competitions like The Lord Mayors art competition, The Tralee Credit Union competition, and the Texaco National competition in recent years with students Aisling O’Connor, Lauren Rohan, Sally Naessens and Katie James all winning top prizes. Huge credit is due to their Art teacher Rebekah Wall.
  • Our Business teacher Edel O’Connor co-ordinates students participating in the Business enterprise competitions with great success – Having won the Top prize in the Kerry Business awards 2 year's ago and again this year our students represented our school and Kerry in Croke Park in the National Finals.   
  • The school established a debating team under the guidance of staff members Iain Laurenson and Karen Blennerhassett and in their first year have already enjoyed success beating Presentation Secondary school Listowel. Well done to Orlaith Rohan, Lauren Costello, Kelly Herlihy, Kaitlin O'Dowd, Timmy Walsh and the team captain Orla Buckley.
  • The school choir has lunchtime rehearsals with staff members Mary O’Leary and Gemma Donovan.
  • Our school has finished second in Ireland in the MS Readathon for the past 2 years and was third this year. Huge credit is due to all teachers particularly our Literacy team of Karen Blennerhassett, Jonathan Lyne, Nóra Flynn, Joan Corkery and senior management.
  • Both staff and students put huge time and effort into various fundraising events throughout the year – St. Vincent de Paul bake sale – Gemma Donovan, Christmas cards in aid of Kerry Mountain Rescue – Edel O’Connor, Easter raffle in aid of Billy O’Riordan memorial trust – Nóra Flynn and the Ms Readathon.
