Meán Scoil welcomes our French Exchange students from Paris

Following a fantastic exchange to Paris in February our school and host families treated students and teachers of Lycée Louis de Broglie de Marly to an exciting and educational time in West Kerry. 19 French students were accompanied by their teachers Laurence Thévenon and Christine Martin on their first ever exchange to Meán Scoil Nua an Leith Triúigh and West Kerry. Students attended our school where they were treated to a full irish breakfast prepared by our students in the Home Ec. room. Then they attended various classes to see how our educational system differs to theirs. They also enjoyed Isish dancing, music and singing in our assembly hall. Guided tours included a trip to Muckrosss House and farms, an eco boat tour to the Blaskets with amazing close sightings of Dolphins, seals and basking sharks. They also had a tour of the Blasket centre in Dún Chaoin followed by lunch in Dingle. They witnessed the Castlegregory minors winning the county league in Tralee. Another highlight was the surfing with Jamie Knox in the Maharees followed by lunch in Spillanes. Overall, the French Exchange was a huge successs and huge credit is due to our French teachers Nóra Flynn and Edel O'Connor as well as our host families who went well beyond the call of duty in entertaining and accomodating French students. It is our hope to continue the Exchange in the future with your support.

First ever French Exchange a huge success

4th and 5th year students along with their French Teachers Nóra Flynn and Edel O'Connor took part in the first ever French exchange between our school and Lycée Louis de Broglie which is based on the outskirts of Paris. The students lived with a host family for the week, attended school and school based activities and also went on many tours of Paris itself visiting L'Arc de Triumph, Notre Dame, Le Champs Elysée, Euro Disney, Chateau de Versailles, Monmartre and The Eiffel Tour to mention a few. It is our hope to continue this exchange into the future for our 4th and 5th years.
