Leaving Certificate Computer Science

Computer Science started in September 2020. It is a brand new, exciting subject and is avaialable as an option. It is for ALL students for ALL abilites
This 2½ minute video provides a good general overview of the subject. The video was used by the NCCA as part of the initial launch of the subject in 2018
Assessment: 70% Exam, 30% Project

Python

Python is the main programming language used for the course. Pyhon allows you to create powerful programmes.

HTML & CSS

HTML and CSS is used to develop websites. It features a lot during the course.

Microbit

The Microbit is a mini computer that we programme using Python or Javascript. You will get the opportunity to create your own robot and other exciting projects

Javascript

Javascript is another programming language and it is used to create dynamic websites.

We are a phase 2 School meaning we are amongst the first schools in Ireland to offer Leaving Certificate Computer Science.

In September 2019, six phase 1 schools, in conjunction with NCCA, created videos to inform and advise schools starting out on Leaving Certificate Computer Science in the national rollout. The videos are all approximatley 5 mins. in duration.
